We all do it. We look at others and compare our flaws. We take advice from fashion magazines. We go on crazy fad diets that never work out in the end. Sure, we’ve all been there. But why? Perhaps we’ve been so brainwashed by today’s media that what is not portrayed as ‘cool’ or ‘in’ is considered taboo. Unfortunately, we live in a world where only one kind of beauty is recognized anymore. This blog is aimed at discovering how the public’s understanding of ‘true beauty’ came about and how women and their bodies are personified in and influenced by the media.
